El Pimentón de la Vera (smoked paprika)
This seasoning is the product by which this region is widely known, and it is an essential ingredient of Extremadura cuisine. Its colour, flavour and aroma contribute to any elaboration with a unique and distinctive touch. Here it is elaborated from the cultivation of the pepper, its grinding and drying until its packaging and distribution.
El Queso Verato (Vera cheese)
In the region, numerous types of cheeses are elaborated but, without doubt, the star cheese is the one that is elaborated with the milk of the herds of goats fed in the area with jara, thyme and the aromatic grasses that grow in the region. There is something for everyone: cured from raw milk, semi-cured with pasteurized milk, etc.
Vera’s typical dishes
The gastronomy of La Vera squeezes to the maximum all the products of the farmland, especially vegetables and meats, and in particular the pork and lamb. Some of the most representative dishes of the area are crumbs, lamb stew, pork chop or verata soup, among others. Of course, there are also options for the sweet tooth: fried milk, perrunillas, huesillos de santo, calbotes and many more.
